Rural Health Inc. Changes COVID-19 Testing Procedures

Anna, IL: Rural Health Inc. is now providing rapid anti-body testing for COVID-19 to anyone desiring a test at all open locations. However, there is still special emphasis for those who are currently symptomatic. All testing must be coordinated with the Rural Health nursing staff before arrival. Testing is performed from the patients’ vehicle, with results being known in a 15-minute timeframe. This type of testing provides important information including past immunities, past infections, and current infections, if present. Confirmatory testing and a televisit with one of our providers may be necessary. Please call our office for questions or to make an appointment.   There is no out of pocket costs for the testing. Rural Health, Inc. and COVID-19 Approach

Rural Health, Inc. is taking every step necessary to keep patients safe and healthy as the state moves through its re-opening phases. We strongly promote and follow all guidelines set in place to help curb the COVID-19 virus. Currently:

  • Staff are rededicating themselves to the number one way to stop the spread of infections – hand hygiene based on CDC guidelines (Hands are washed before/after appointments in front of patients).
  • We are practicing social distancing and requesting patients’ wait in their vehicles until a room is ready just for them.
  • Our facilities are able to provide masks to our patients and hand sanitizer is readily available.
  • Our high traffic patient care areas are sanitized with a fine mist disinfectant at the end of each day.

Rural Health cares about the well-being and safety of our patients. As the COVID-19 virus continues to impact our communities, Rural Health is diligently staying on top of guidance from the CDC and other healthcare agencies. This is a rapidly changing situation and we will keep you updated as information becomes available to us. At this time, we do ask that you use the following guide to protect yourself and others. 1. DO NOT PANIC 2. Wash your hands and wash them often 3. Avoid close contact-try to remain at least 6 feet apart 4. Stay home if you are sick 5. Cover coughs and sneezes 6. Wear a facemask if you are sick and must leave your home 7. Clean and disinfect 8. CALL YOUR DOCTOR’S OFF PRIOR TO PRESENTING IF YOU ARE EXPERIENCING THE FOLLOWING: a. Cough, fever, shortness of breath AND have been in close contact with anyone who has traveled to a high-risk area such as China, Italy, Japan, Iran OR anyone with a confirmed case of COVID-19. Congratulations to the eight scholarship recipients for 2019! Each recipient received a $1,000 scholarship to assist with college finances while working on a healthcare degree. This was Rural Health, Inc.’s fourth year of presenting scholarships to local high school students. Scholarship recipients are pictured below (left to right) (1st row) Brittany Deming, Massac County High School Ashley Detering, Anna-Jonesboro High School McKenzy Rowan, Dongola High School (2nd row) Griffin Greer, Joppa High School Jaelyn Douglas, Vienna High School Megan Rhodes, Cobden High School  

Hallie Grenfell, Goreville High School and Chali Phelps, Shawnee High School was unable to be present for the award presentation.
